We're creative people, overflowing with ideas. The need to act on these ideas is like crack to the entrepreneurial personality. We get a high off of taking risks and making ideas come to life. This is a gift and a curse. My ONE best piece of advice is to simply focus on ONE thing at a time. FOCUS: Follow One Course Until Successful.
Expectations are ugly and we can all see them from a mile away. Expectations are filled with self-interest, self-promotion, huge egos and a general lack of wisdom and knowledge. RELATED: Talk Your Way Out of Bank Fees (Really!)

Finally, the ability and willingness to change your approach allows you to reach even the highest goals. No great success was achieved without any effort, or in only one try. Thomas Edison said: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Tony feels the same way: “I have plenty of failures, but I don’t look at them that way, not because I am in denial but because I make myself learn something from it. Then it becomes a stepping stone instead of a failure.” As you continue exploring how to achieve success, and what success means to you personally, never be afraid to start over and switch up what you’re doing. The path to personal growth is long and ever-changing. Although you can trust that success doesn’t mean the same thing for any two people, you can rest easily knowing no one finds success without effort.

Magda Kay5 Comments Join NAMM Plan to make at least 50 mistakes every year - if you don't, you aren't trying hard enough to succeed. Perfectionists often try to avoid mistakes, and compound this with slow decisions. Both of these things will take you to failure faster than any of the mistakes you are trying to avoid would. Instead, list your mistakes as a metric of success. Write them down. If the list is short, you aren't trying hard enough. If the list is long, you're doing great - learn from them, then go make some more.

I think Dr. Dweck should be careful with words like "Fourth, we value process here, and we reward process." This sounds a lot like fixed mindset thinking, and could easily be mistaken for fixed mindset thinking by a fixed mindset person. We don't value process per se. Rather, we value the exploration and accomplishments that leads to a new process. No "process" is sacred, only growth is sacred. A growth mindset doesn't start out looking for "the rules", although they definitely observe the rules when they're there for a good reason. A fixed mindset obsesses over "the rules", because these are extrinsic ways to value work done (they're "the straight A's"). A growth mindset obsesses over the work itself, and the rules (at least the right ones) help make the work easier to do. The work is secondary to the "process."
